vain babblings
1 Timothy 6:20
6:20 vain babblings. “Profane and vain babblings” (that is, secular and pointless philosophizings) are to be utterly avoided, not in the sense of fleeing from them, but rather of not being influenced by them, and by rendering them void, refuting them with truth. The intellectual and political establishments are rife with humanistic philosophies and programs of all kinds. We must beware of them all (Colossians 2:8), guarding the integrity of the Christian faith in every detail.
