the cherubims
1 Kings 6:28
6:28 the cherubims. These two large gold-covered cherubs, each almost fifteen feet tall (assuming an eighteen inch cubit) faced the front entrance to the most holy place, their outstretched wings covering the entire width of the inner sanctuary. These were in addition to the two smaller cherubim on the ark itself, and the many coverings of cherubim on the doors and walls. All these fabricated cherubim, of course, symbolized the real cherubim (the highest of the Angelic orders) that are in the presence of God in heaven.
