Looking Or Looked At?

“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 6:1).

Forgiveness

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses” (Mark 11:25).

Reason—not Negotiation

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

No Pleasure In Wickedness

“For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness” (Psalm 5:4).

The term “hath pleasure” simply means God is pleased. David addressed his fervent pleas to “my King, and my God” (Psalm 5:2). He chose to serve the Creator, who is remarkably distinguished from any man-made god. One of His distinguishing characteristics is that the true God is devoid of sin or wickedness.

Justice or Mercy?

“Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing; the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man” (Psalm 5:6).

Thus ends a three verse passage that contains six actions the Lord’s justice must take toward men or women who will not accept His merciful sacrifice for sin on their behalf.
