On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, sixth graders from Prestonwood Christian Academy visited the ICR Discovery Center for Science and Earth History for a sneak preview day of learning and fun activities. This was the first school group ever to visit the new, under-construction facility.
The students viewed two planetarium shows. The first highlighted God’s design in our solar system and the second was a 3-D feature about God’s creation under the sea. They also enjoyed educational presentations from ICR scientists in the new auditorium. Dr. Tim Clarey demonstrated how geology confirms the Genesis account of the global Flood, and Dr. Brian Thomas revealed how dinosaurs showcase God’s handiwork. The students ended the day in a Q&A session. They asked the scientists thought-provoking questions such as “How old were Adam and Eve when they were created?”, “What caused the Ice Age?”, and “Were there mountains before the Flood?”
Chris Kinman, Director of the ICR Discovery Center, was pleased with the overwhelming positive response.
It was such an exciting day having the students out from Prestonwood Christian Academy for our first “test run” of the new facility. The students seemed to really engage the material, from planetarium shows to lectures in the auditorium. They were attentive and they asked great questions.
After the event, sixth grader Dane said, “ICR taught me how to be able to defend my faith with scientific facts. Now, if an evolutionist comes up to me and says, ‘Creationism is a dumb and non-scientific belief,’ I will now be able to defend my faith.” Jessica immediately put what she learned to the test: “After going to ICR, it helped me share my faith with a friend that is an atheist. I asked her what she believed and why. I was then able to share with her how the Bible is scientifically true.”
ICR taught me how to be able to defend my faith with scientific facts. 
A few parents and administrators attended the event as well. Amy Newton said,
As a parent, I appreciated how the ICR scientists were intentional when connecting with our students….Clearly, the ICR staff is committed to teaching students to identify inconsistencies, evaluate actual evidence found in nature, and confidently question current popular scientific theories on creation and evolution. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have this valuable resource in the Dallas area.

Prestonwood Christian Academy plans to return to the Discovery Center when the exhibit hall is complete and the facility officially opens to the public.
