52:30 carried away captive. Jeremiah 52:28-30 indicates three waves of captives taken away from Judah by Nebuchadnezzar—3023, 832, and 745 persons, respectively—a total of 4600 altogether. Others were put to death (Jeremiah 52:27), and many escaped. The “poor of the land” (II Kings 25:12) were left in the land.
