These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.
And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the LORD: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.

New Defender's Study Bible Notes

33:1 These are the journeys. Moses here outlines the paths followed by the wilderness wanderings, all the way from Egypt to Moab. Interestingly, forty place names are mentioned, perhaps corresponding to the forty years of wandering.

33:2 Moses wrote. Moses clearly states that here he was the one who wrote about the journey of Israel from Egypt to the promised land–that is, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The assertion by liberal critics that Moses’ generation did not know how to write is universally refuted by both the internal and external evidences.
