16:26 the sabbath. The sabbath (meaning “rest”) was thus known as “the sabbath,” before it was incorporated into God’s ten commandments (Exodus 20:8-11). It had evidently been known and observed, in some degree at least, ever since creation week (Genesis 2:1-3).
