Tyndale Theological Seminary - Hurst, TX
Join ICR's Chief Academic Officer and Associate Professor of Apologetics, Dr. Jim Johnson at Tyndale Theological Seminary for a weekend seminar that aims to appreciate how God's Word - true to every jot and tittle - teaches God's glory in creation science, explaining the purposefulness and value of the created heavens and the earth, plus all living therein (Exodus 20:8-11; Revelation 4:11), informed by relevant Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, further supplemented by examples of Providential history, in order to analyze and appreciate God's providences; and to illustrate the providential ecology context of the world's wildlife and geophysical environment from a Biblical creation stewardship; and to recognize many examples of God's glory "hidden in plain view" - especially in the biology, ecology, and biogeography of God's creation and in Scripture-informed Providential history.

Seminar Title
Greek, Hebrew, & Aramaic Smörgåsbord: The Diamonds are in the Details of the Original Texts)
Course Description:
God diversely displays His glorious genius and caring providence in how He has given us His Holy Scriptures (the written Word of God, showing us the living Word of God). The Holy Bible, especially examined in its original texts (i.e., the providentially preserved texts of the Old and New Testament) is our spiritual food (Matthew 4:4), like a never-ending magnificent spiritual smörgåsbord:! The information in the Holy Bible is clear and understandable to readers, worldwide, in its many carefully translated versions. Yet, there are some details of precision/connotation "gems" somewhat "hidden in plain view", unless one examines the "high definition" original texts of the Old and New Testaments.
Accordingly, some precious and precise details (of Scripture's passages) can be better appreciated by looking "microscopically" (i.e., philologically) at the exact vocabulary and syntax used in the Bible's original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, particularly using helpful linguistic reference materials such as exhaustive concordances and/or interlinear Bibles, in order to read the dimaond-like details of those Bible texts in "high definition".
In the first session on Friday evening we will cover exemplary passages of "nuggets" in Old Testament Hebrew and Aramaic. Examples of Old Testament philology "nuggets" include Nahum 2:7 (doves); Daniel 5 (expert castes); Numbers 21:4-9 (banner-pole); Genesis 1:2 & Genesis 2:24 (being vs. becoming); Genesis 8:3 (ocean tides); etc. These Old Testament studies will spill over into the Saturday morning session.
In the second session on Saturday morning we will cover other exemplary passages of "nuggets" in New Testament Greek. Examples of New Testament philology "nuggets" include James 1:11 and with John 3:16 (comparing flowers to humans); Matthew 7:24-25 and Matthew 16:18 (different kinds of rock); Matthew 6:28 and Luke 27-28 (lilies of the field); Matthew 6:26 and Luke 12:24 (ravens); Luke 7:4-6 (worthiness); etc. Special attention is given to Genesis-based creation science, apologetics insights, and providential history.
