"Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah" (Psalm 60:4).

In this Psalm, God's "banner" (nehs) is mentioned, a word rich in significance and variously translated. Let us reflect on it, as the "Selah" suggests.

"And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause Him to draw near, and He shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged His heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord" (Jeremiah 30:21).

"And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf" (Exodus 32:24).

 "And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them" (Esther 8:17).

"Go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee" (Matthew 17:27).
