It's now common knowledge that on August 11, 1999, the Kansas Board of Education (KBOE) voted to de-emphasize evolution in Kansas public school science classes. Unfortunately, what we think we know as portrayed by the media is contrary to the actual facts.

Before answering this question, let me define the term "evolution" as I will be using it, lest I be misunderstood. Darwin used the term on a grand scale, and so will I. His concept of evolution proposed that all of life has come from a common ancestor. Thus over time, basic forms of life altered into other, totally different forms of life.

Many find it incredulous that a well-organized movement exists which is currently demanding that chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans be included in a "community of equals" with humans. But, as this article is being prepared, just such a demand is being promoted within the United Nations and elsewhere.
