Exalting The Anointed One
“The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall He thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and He shall give strength unto His King, and exalt the horn of His anointed” (I Samuel 2:10).
Pseudo-Science
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” (I Timothy 6:20).
Who Shall Bring Me Down?
“The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?” (Obadiah 3).
Lord Of Hosts
“And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there” (I Samuel 1:3).
Death And Spilled Water
“For we must needs die, and are as water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth He devise means, that His banished be not expelled from Him” (II Samuel 14:14).
The inevitability of death is here compared to spilt water disappearing into the ground. The comparison is quite incisive.
