“Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD” (Psalm 106:48).

Many is the speaker who, after he has made some point which he considers especially good, will then say: “And all the people said, ‘Amen’” (meaning “that’s right!”).

“I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine” (Psalm 50:11).

“Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yea, let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?” (Jeremiah 12:1).

Christians who have lived through eight decades or more (as of this writing, I am going on 82) have seen society's standards of morality deteriorate in ways that would have seemed incredible, say, fifty years ago.

“Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).
