Introduction

The current attitude in the academic and scientific community is that science and religion are completely incompatible. It is believed that science is a system of knowledge based on experimentation, observation, and logic. Religion, on the other hand, is viewed as a system of faith based on myth, culture, and self-delusion.

Science educators' beliefs about origins are very important. It is generally assumed by creationists that most science teachers hold to beliefs that are not consistent with a creationist perspective.

A group of young-earth creationists gathered in San Diego on July 5, 1997, to attend The First Young-Earth Conference on Radioisotopes. The purpose of this first conference was to establish each researcher's current insights on radioisotope data from a creationist perspective and develop a plan for research and publication on the subject.
