Recently, the prestigious Royal Society published a fascinating paper regarding partial haemoglobin preservation in dinosaur fossils. The study’s authors are from North Carolina State University—a world leader in this area. They wrote,

New species that are 100% dinosaur continue to be discovered by paleontologists with increasing frequency. One such recent discovery, described as “both the oldest and most complete skeleton of [the pachycephalosaur] group found to date,”¹ has generated interest within the scientific community.

The discovery of a new species of a plant or animal would probably not spark much excitement to the non-scientist. But in this case, the conditions surrounding the discovery of two new species of little-known fish should cause Christians who are interested in origins to take notice.

A recent study published in Scientific Reports found strange globs of tree resin (amber) mixed within claimed ancient (Cretaceous) deep-water sediments on Hokkaido Island in northern Japan.¹ This is the first reported instance of amber in what’s interpreted as a deep ocean setting.
