A group of scientists—including archaeologists from Newcastle University, UK, and geneticists from the University of the Basque Country, University of Vienna, and Harvard University^1,2—unearthed a millennia-old family genealogy.

On January 15, 2022, an underwater volcano in the Pacific Ocean’s Kingdom of Tonga erupted with the energy of hundreds of Hiroshima-size atom bombs.¹ Both the resulting column of ash and the shock front that rippled away from the eruption could be seen from satellites in space.^1,2

It seems not a week goes by that zoologists find yet another function of the designed microbiome.

Flowers are as beautiful as they are complex. Flowers (Anthophyta) are designed with a receptacle (axis) upon which are found the carpel (ovary, style stigma) and stamen (filament and anther). The petals provide colorful aesthetic value while nectar guides within the petals can only be seen by pollinating insects that are able to see in the ultra-violet range.

Yet another layer of complexity has been added to the lowly bacterial cell. It has been discovered they can undergo genetic silencing to guard themselves from mutations. A researcher stated this finding is “an extremely important system that had not been appreciated until now."¹
