Man has either slowly evolved from a primal slime billions of years ago—or he has been created in God’s image. The list of evidences that were supposed to validate man’s evolutionary ascent from “lower” life forms has been expunged by decades of good scientific research. From teeth to toes, the edifice of “human evolution” has clearly been disintegrating.

The Christian Research Institute (CRI) states on its website that “we cannot easily dismiss the fact that an overwhelming majority of authorities in the fields of geology [rocks], paleontology [fossils], biology, etc., are convinced that there is abundant evidence to substantiate a very old earth.”¹

Secular colleges and universities, the media, and the Internet are alive with vitriolic accusations regarding the supposedly unscientific nature of creation science.

But is evolutionary science itself “scientific”? In opposition to what is normally claimed, it would seem that when it comes to the supernatural, secular science not only believes in it—it also depends on it.

A distant rocky planet was recently discovered orbiting close enough to its red dwarf star that liquid water could exist on its surface. This rare position is called the goldilocks zone (not too hot and not too cold) and is one of thousands of preconditions for life to exist on any planet.¹

Some Christian old-earth advocates hold that if God created fully functioning organisms and physical systems, then He lied to us. They would have looked deceptively mature when they had in fact just appeared. This, they feel, is ample reason to deny creation and a literal interpretation of Scripture, for God cannot lie.
