Going the Distance
New technologies in web-based instruction have reached a point of significant standardization and are now facilitating a rapid expansion of distance learning even within the most respectable institutions of higher education. While undergraduate programs abound in web-based environments, graduate courses and degree programs are harder to find, particularly at the right schools.
ICR has already begun its development of masters-level graduate courses and degree programs for students who opt to complete their education online. Currently, the graduate school offers a Master of Science in Science Education in a web-based format. Additional courses are being developed for online instruction. The third session of this program is now underway, with new students being added each semester.
The graduate school of ICR also offers resident Master of Science degrees in astronomy and geophysics, biology, and geology. These degree programs are currently being developed for web-based, distance education platforms to accommodate a growing number of students who desire quality advanced science instruction from a thoroughly biblical perspective.
Additionally, the Morris Center has developed a program of study for online instruction called The Creationist Worldview. This certificate-level program is designed to reach Christian professionals on all strata of society. The Worldview program consists of five modules of study and over thirty individual courses on topics such as biblical apologetics, scientific evidences of creation, medical ethics, applications of the biblical worldview in business, and many more.
The focus of this comprehensive program of study is to equip leaders with the necessary tools of knowledge and application in biblical worldview issues that will increase their ability to influence others with sound doctrine. The Apostle Peter’s admonition sums up the goal of this program:
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”
