How to Configure Internet Explorer to Allow Cookies

  1. Open Internet Explorer. If you do not have version 6.0 or greater, you can download it for free from the Microsoft® site.
  2. Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
  3. Click on the "Privacy" tab.
  4. Click the "Default" button (or manually slide the bar down to "Medium") under "Settings".
  5. Click "OK".

Why Cookies are Needed

Two cookies are used by this site. The essential one is a session cookie. You must allow this cookie into your browser to provide continuity and maintain your login from page to page. When you log out or close the browser this cookie is destroyed (in your browser and on the server). The other cookie remembers your username within the browser. When you return to this site the username field on the login page will already be filled out for you.

How to Configure Internet Explorer to Allow Popup Windows

  1. When selecting a option that displays a popup window, such as ICR's Online Resources, you may see the Information Bar, which is a pale yellow bar between the toolbars and the web page. This bar may warn that a pop-up has been blocked.
  2. Click on this bar and choose "Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site" to configure IE to allow pop-ups from ICR.

If you have disabled JavaScript, you will need to turn it back on. Here's how:

  1. Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the "Security" tab.
  3. Click "Custom Level" in Security Level for this Zone.
  4. Scroll down to "Scripting" near the end of the list.
  5. Under "Active Scripting" choose "Enable".
  6. Click "OK" twice.

Why Popup Windows are Needed

There are a variety of useful tools provided, such as Bible verse look-up with links to Strong's Concordance and Advanced Searching of ICR's archives. JavaScript running in your browser is used to popup a new window for these tools to run correctly. Popup Blocker settings must also be configured to allow the site to display popup windows.
