Hushai, realizing that David and his men would need additional time to prepare for battle, advised Absalom to first take the time to gather a much larger army from all the tribes of Israel. The Lord Himself directed the advice given by the two counselors. He had chosen David as king, and Absalom’s attempted takeover was utterly contrary to God’s will.
