31:15 pillar of a cloud. God had led the people of Israel by His glory cloud for forty years in the wilderness, ever since it first appeared to shield them from Pharaoh’s army (Exodus 13:21,22). This would be the final occasion for Moses himself to encounter God in the glory cloud.
