33:15 the Branch. “The Branch” is a title of the Messiah, the promised seed of David and coming King. See notes on Isaiah 11:1.


33:16 The LORD our righteousness. In the great age of the kingdom that is coming, Jerusalem will have—apparently as a parallel name—the same name as its divine King. Note Jeremiah 23:6.
