22:30 stand in the gap. Moses long ago had “stood before Him in the breach” (Psalm 106:23) to keep God from destroying His people (Exodus 32:10-14). The Lord evidently desires those who know Him to intercede on behalf of those who have rebelled against Him, as Abraham did for the men of Sodom (Genesis 18:20-33).
