“Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy” (II Timothy 1:4).

Paul greatly loved young Timothy, his son in the faith, and that love was fully reciprocated. When Timothy learned of Paul’s latest sufferings and approaching execution, he unashamedly wept, and Paul was greatly moved by it.

“Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee” (Psalm 5:10).

“I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more” (Ezekiel 34:29).

“When He prepared the heavens, I was there: when He set a compass upon the face of the depth: When He established the clouds above: when He strengthened the fountains of the deep” (Proverbs 8:27,28).

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9).
