figs

Jeremiah 24:2

24:2 figs. The figs are symbolic of the spiritual fruit of the whole nation of Judah, probably including Israel as well. Christ also referred to the fig tree and its fruit as symbolic of the nation and its response to Him. See Luke 13:6-9; Matthew 21:18-20; 24:32,33, etc. The good figs represent the faithful Jews, the bad figs the apostate Jews. The difference is determined by their respective response to their Messiah when He is made known to them.
