And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
 

46:5 from Beersheba. This was the southern boundary of Jacob’s homeland, so he passed by to sacrifice and pray there before his permanent departure for Egypt. God appeared to him one last time, assuring him this move was in the will of God.
