Looking for Provision
Lawmakers are at it again as they vote on the latest stimulus bill. This potential “relief” might bring you some much-needed peace, or perhaps you think another bailout is far from what the struggling economy needs. Regardless of what side of the fence you’re on, it’s hard to debate the fact that Americans care about the issue at hand.

In a Forbes article on the topic, the heading reads, “What aspects do most Americans and employees care about right now?” The article immediately states, “Americans—including the employed and unemployed—mostly want more stimulus checks…”1 Who couldn’t use some extra money in a time of crisis?

During uncertain times, it is easy to put our faith and hope in lesser things. But there lies the potential problem. If we are not careful, we will begin looking to the government (or many other things) for our provision, instead of the great Provider Himself. Paul reminds those in Christ that, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”2

For those who do not know Christ, right now certainly looks like a time to panic for many reasons. A new stimulus package might be their only hope to pay next month’s rent or put groceries on the table. However, the gospel message uniquely has the ability to resonate in this darkness to those whom the Holy Spirit is prompting. Be reminded today that God’s promises remain true even in the midst of a pandemic. So, perhaps, the Lord will use this proposed package to meet your need. Nevertheless, if another stimulus check never comes your way, be encouraged that the Father will supply.
