This vision received by Christ was both a retrospective assurance that Satan had already been cast out of heaven because “iniquity was found” in him (Ezekiel 28:15,17) and also the renewed promise that he will eventually be cast completely out of any access to God at all (Revelation 12:7-10) and ultimately down to his eternal fate in hell (Isaiah 14:12-15; Revelation 20:10). The power of His disciples over the spirits was a token of this.
