This Caleb (same as Chelubai in I Chronicles 2:9) is probably not the same Caleb as the companion of Joshua who had served as one of the twelve spies and who later was a hero of the conquest. The father of that Caleb was “Jephunneh the Kenezite” (Joshua 14:6). Still another Caleb is mentioned in I Chronicles 2:50.
