New Defender's Study Bible Notes
36:1 king Hezekiah. Isaiah 36–39 is essentially identical to II Kings 18:13–20:19. Also see II Chronicles 32:1-33. For explanatory comments on these four chapters in Isaiah, refer to notes on the corresponding passages in II Kings and II Chronicles.
36:2 sent Rabshakeh. The parallel verse in II Kings 18:17 adds the names of Tartan and Rabsaris to that of Rabshakeh here. It is probable that all three names are titles rather than proper names. Also the information in II Kings 18:14-16 has apparently been added to the original account of Isaiah here.
