New Defender's Study Bible Notes
38:1 altar of burnt-offering. The altar for receiving the burnt sacrifices had been specified in Exodus 27:1-8, and these specifications were followed carefully by Bezaleel (Exodus 38:1-7).
38:8 The laver of brass. The brass laver (or water basin) for cleansing was built to follow the plans as given (Exodus 30:18).
38:8 of the looking glasses. Many brass mirrors have been found from ancient Egypt. The craftsmanship to make these could easily have been known by the Hebrews. Alternatively, these looking glasses of the women might have been among the objects given to them by the Egyptians as they were leaving Egypt (Exodus 12:36).
38:9 the court. The detailed specifications for the court of the tabernacle and its hangings of fine twined linen were given in Exodus 27:9-19. They were fulfilled as described in Exodus 38:9-20.
