11:2 let every man borrow. This word can be translated, “ask” (see notes on Exodus 3:22; 12:36).
11:5 the maidservant. The maidservant grinding grain for an Egyptian household was considered the lowest occupation in Egyptian society.
11:7 a difference between. The difference between the Egyptians and Israelites had been stressed by the darkness in Egypt and the light in Goshen. The spiritual parallel is the difference in all ages between the children of darkness and children of light. Note Ephesians 5:6-8.
