New Defender's Study Bible Notes
26:6 like Shiloh. Shiloh, the first home of the tabernacle in the promised land, had been destroyed because of the sins of both people and priests in the days of Eli (I Samuel 2, 4). Similarly, the city of Jerusalem, with its beautiful temple was about to be destroyed for much the same reason. Note Jeremiah 26:9,18.
26:16 prophets. It was the apostate priests and false prophets who agitated to have God’s true prophet destroyed. So it was also with Christ, and often has been for His followers throughout history.
26:18 Micah the Morasthite prophesied. This prophecy, given about one hundred years earlier, is recorded in Micah 3:12.
26:20 Urijah. The ministry and martyrdom of the prophet Urijah under Jehoiakim is mentioned only in this passage (Jeremiah 26:20-23).
