These are the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari.

26:19 the sons of Kore. Kore, or Korah, was a grandson of Kohath, the son of Levi (Exodus 6:16,18,21). Merari was a brother of Kohath (Exodus 6:16). Thus all the temple porters were Korhites or Merarites.
