The Levites were not to be given a portion of the land in Canaan, once it had been conquered, such as the other tribes would have, and neither were the priests (Numbers 18:20). However, the Levites were to receive a tithe of all the increase of the other tribes, and they in turn were to render a tithe of their income for the support of the priests (Numbers 18:26-27).
