In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
 

13:23 married wives. Some of the Jews were actually marrying women of the Philistines, Ammonites and Moabites, and they were not even teaching their children to speak Hebrew (Nehemiah 13:24).
