There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
 

7:15 nothing from without a man. The Lord here is obviously speaking of “ritual” defilement. Ingesting poisoned food, for example, may certainly “defile” a person in a physical sense, but much more serious is the spiritual defilement in his heart.
