6:4 Prepare ye war. The Hebrew word for “prepare” implies ritualistic preparations, evidently calling on their own pagan gods for aid in subjugating Jerusalem. Jeremiah 6:3-7 suggests that God Himself is directing the invaders against His people, as punishment for their sins.
