18:18 devices against Jeremiah. Because Jeremiah was prophesying judgment instead of comfort, the men of Israel turned against him instead of to the Lord. God had warned Jeremiah that this would happen, but had promised He would deliver him through it all (Jeremiah 1:17-19).
