And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
 

32:2 shadow of a great rock. This beautiful metaphor is applicable not just to “a man,” but to the God/man, Jesus Christ. He is “the Rock,” our only sure “shadow” (or “defense”) from the heat of God’s wrath on our sins in their weary land under God’s curse because of sin.
