And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
 

12:7 take of the blood. The blood was to be “given” (same word as “strike”) on the sides and above, but not underneath, where it could be stepped on (Hebrews 10:29).
