Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
 

7:3 better than laughter. It is significant that Jesus often wept (e.g., John 11:35), but there is no record of laughter or mirth in His demeanor. The same applies to Paul (e.g., Acts 20:19).
