7:11 thus Amos saith. Amos did not say this. He said that God would rise against “the house of Jeroboam with the sword” (Amos 7:9). Jeroboam apparently died a natural death, but his son, Zachariah, was assassinated (II Kings 15:8-12). Furthermore, Israel was later led away captive out of her land.
