“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us” (Hebrews 9:24).
In the words of the beautiful old hymn: “On land or sea, no matter where; where Jesus is, ’tis heaven there.” In His resurrection body, of course, He has gone into heaven itself, seated at the right hand of the Father, appearing in the presence of the ineffable glory of God as our advocate and great high priest. In the person of the Holy Spirit, however, “Christ liveth in me” (Galatians 2:20).
In another sense, we live in Him, because He is everywhere in and around us. “For David speaketh concerning Him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved” (Acts 2:25). Not only is He on our right hand, but He holds us up as well. “Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, . . . He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom” (Isaiah 40:10,11). “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27). “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them” (Psalm 34:7). He is both ahead of us and in back of us. “For the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward” (Isaiah 52:12). “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).
In us, beside us, before and behind us, above us, beneath us, around us! Truly, our very home is in the Lord Jesus. Therefore, “the sheep hear His voice: and He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. . . . and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice” (John 10:3,4). Where Jesus is, there is home. HMM
